Carlisle & District Rambling & Fellwalking Club

Walk & Event Reports

Thanks to everyone who came out today to make a good group of 17. This was made up to 18 by Jerry. Jerry was a Bulgarian from Southport who had made the journey thinking he was meeting a rambling group from Lancashire. He was either late or they didn’t turn up or he had gone to the wrong place. Anyway, he joined our group but went down after doing Great Rigg, he had found it tough.
The weather started off promising but after Stone Arthur the clag came down and we couldn’t see a lot all the way to Great Rigg. Sitting off the summit for lunch the clouds parted and we had spectacular views along the ridge. The cloud was pretty much swirling about for the rest of the afternoon giving us great views all around. We did the ridge down Heron Pike and Nab Scar then along the coffin route to finish a longish day. I think the day turned out pretty well with only spots of rain, thanks again to the group. PS. None of you are that young that you cant remember Jerry and the Pacemakers!.
