Walk & Event Reports

15 of us found our way to The Forestry Commission’s High Stand Woods.
It was great to see some faces we hadn’t seen for ages.
This is a nice walk through the woods, along the road to Aiketgate,  then  across big fields to Armathwaite school.  The path then takes us down to the railway where we stopped for lunch.  The clouds rolled away and the day got very warm.    Wonderful views though.    After lunch we walked to Drybeck and into the shade following the Eden.    When we reached open fields again we turned left to climb very steeply away from the river and immediately  over a very rickety, broken stile.  The more supple amongst us managed to go through rather than over.
We took the decision to do the 8 mile version so came up through Wallace Field rather than go the ‘Extra Mile’ to Froggle Crook.

Thanks for your company.

Judy and Chris.
