Carlisle & District Rambling & Fellwalking Club

Walk & Event Reports

Fourteen of us set off from the lay by down to the River Lyne in lovely sunshine and into Shank Woods. We took the lower path along the River which admiring the lovely flowers on the way.  We all successfully negotiated the steps, with the aid of a chain, round the rocks.

We left the River and walked through the beautiful bluebell woods where we had lunch. After lunch we went up a small hill and into open fields and tracks with views over to the Lakeland hills which are topped with snow.  We then walked back into the wood on the higher path to our starting point.  At this point 7 of us decided to walk a further three quarters of a mile each way to the Hidden River Cafe where we able to get teas and coffees in a lovely tee pee with lights and fires.  Well worth the walk.

Thank you to all those who came and made the walk such fun.
