Just about to leave the car to start todays walk when one of the members suddenly remembers they had left a pan full of soup bubbling on the stove. So what do you do with that one? Call the fire brigade, no, you contact the newly appointed Rambling Club Fire Officer who sometimes acts as the Club Chairman and Web Master. He hot foots around to the said address and manages to save the house burning down and rescues the pan of soup. Also rescues the days walk, so thanks to him,

I think there may be a bottle of red winging it your way.

That sorted the walk could continue in some minor drizzle which tried to spoil the walk at various times but never managed it. A tough climb to start with onto High Snockrigg then down by Moss Force onto Newlands Hause.  There we found the film crew of the TV programme 'The A Word’  filming a new series. We all declined the offer of walk on parts as extras and made off up Knott Ring and Ard Crags, lunch was taken between the two. From there it was down into the valley. Little bits of sunshine meant the waterproofs could be taken off for the long walk back to Buttermere. The weather never spoilt the walk and there were some great views to be had. Thanks to the four guys for joining me on a great walk.  Lesson of the day… Check the Hobb before leaving the house.

All in all a souper day. (see what i did there)

Pete.
