We were, unsurprisingly, thin on the ground at the Sands on Wednesday morning. I was quite amazed that 12 walkers actually turned up considering the dire weather forecast! However, we set off, parked up and discussed what we were going to do. It was very windy, as forecast, with heavy rain to follow around 1.00pm. It was decided that it was too windy to ascend to the top of Binsey so we walked on the usual path then branched off to the right and walked round the fell to the other path which takes you to the top. By that time we could see very dark clouds coming from the west so it was decided to cut the walk short and go back to where we were parked.
Some of us went to the Craggs Cafe for a cuppa, and, sure enough, the torrential rain began as soon as we sat at the table, so at least we didn't get wet!
