Upon returning home I have discovered that Allen Banks is closed to the public and the National Trust advise that walkers find other routes(Hence the locked gates at the car park)
So I would suggest that all eighteen walkers who tempted fate today swear an oath of silence and that we never again speak of todays fine ramble apart from the first and last sections through the pretty village of Beltingham
I have also deleted all the incriminating photos except for these ones.
This report will self destruct in 10 - 9 -8 -7……..
We entered Allen Banks along a footpath missing out the NT car park so had no indication that the estate was “closed” until I checked the NT website at home
We obviously avoided the landslip area and there we’re no problems on any other part of the walk
We even passed two or three NT volunteers who didn’t say anything
I might contact the NT and suggest they need to put a bit more info at the other access points into the estate
Otherwise a good day !
Ian
