Hayton Circular

Leader: Judy Cherrie

Report by Judy Cherrie

“Despite the Forecast of 95% chance or rain, 9 Punters plus me turned out,  so we set off from the “interesting” Lay-by at ByeGill Farm on the A69.

Due to too much talking I slightly overshot the right turn to Hayton Church but covered my mistake by asking Tony Fenton to tell us all about Hayton’s famous walnut tree.   Apparently, it is the world’s most northerly walnut tree!  Who knew that?    Anyway.   Onwards on upwards going east over Farm fields until I realised I had veered off course.   I felt like the Grand Old

Duke of York.   I marched them down to the bottom of the Hill and marched them up again.   Nobody moaned, for which I am  grateful.   Despite that small hiccup, it was a jolly nice day, the views weren’t too bad, the Farm Shop at Hayton was busy and the company was great.

Thank you all so much for your company.

PS.   I really DO have an appointment at SpecSavers on Monday.

Xxxxx”
