Twenty-two of us set off from Canonbie Hall on an intermittently sunny, breezy pleasant day.  Our route took us down the lovely river Esk to the Meeting of the Waters, where we paused for snacks and drinks, with many sand martins and swifts overhead.  We had to make a small diversion here because the path had been swept away.  As we headed along the edge of a ploughed field, the leader took a tumble, but survived to continue the walk!
Lunch was taken at the end of the old railway viaduct before we made our merry way to Rowanburn, pausing to admire Lang Sandy before crossing the Copshaw road and returning to Canonbie by way of Rowanburnhead and Windyhill.
We reached Canonbie Community Cafe in the kirk dead on opening time, two o'clock.  Drinks and home baking were thoroughly enjoyed by the party, as were the more than reasonable prices.
