Orton Scar & Beacon Hill

Leader: Joan Benson

Photos by Ann Kin-Cleaves - Judy Cherrie

I and 15 intrepid souls set out from the lovely village of Orton on

Wed 18th.  A gentle climb onto Beacon Hill were we had lunch

beside Queen Victoria's Monument.  Next onto Ravensworth Fell

passing one of a number of Robin Hood's graves!

Arriving back at 2pm in plenty of time to look into the Parish Church.  The tower is painted a lime white wash to prevent damp getting into the stonework.  It also serves as a navigation aid for the hapless leader!!  Most of us took advantage of the Chocolate Factory and enjoyed refreshment of our choice

Beautiful views, clear skies and dry boots what more could you ask for.
