Langholm Bluebell Walk

8 Miles Grade 3

Leader: Nancy McLure

Report by Nancy McLure

Photos by Gavin

We gathered in large numbers at the Kilngreen car park where the toilets are now open. Gavin, the chairman of the local Walks Committee, happened to be strolling past and insisted on a photo shoot and was delighted to meet Tony Norwood, a former fellow squash player. Tony in fact worked for Gavin as a delivery driver in the past! It turned out a warm day as we inspected the bluebells in various woods and met an unexpected group of young cattle. The group split in two after lunch, Bob's group returning to Langholm via the Commonwealth War Graves in Wauchope Cemetery and my group returning via the Duchess Bridge, the pheasant rearing enterprise, the laying of a new track, lots of mud and the Jubilee Bridge. Refreshments were enjoyed in the Buccleuch Centre and thanks to everyone for their good humour
