After an inauspicious start to the day, with low cloud and drizzle, things improved rapidly as we drove west.  By the time the 21 of us reached the NNR car park ( after an interesting exploration  of some of Dumfriesshire's by-ways by a few of us!)) raincoats were unnecessary for the rest of the day as the cloud cleared and the sun appeared.  We had an enjoyable walk, accompanied for much of the way by groups of calling barnacle geese.  Conditions underfoot were generally good, with less mud than usual, although some of the 'non-slip' wooden walkways were anything but.
Many thanks to the staff of the WWT Reserve for allowing us use of their toilets and indoor seating area.  The hot drinks machine and selection of snacks were much appreciated.  That prepared us admirably for the long road walk and ascent of Ward Law !
Many thanks to all of you for venturing out, to Anne for so ably co-leading, and to Pete for his evocative pics.

Haste ye back!
