Walk & Event Reports

.

What a cracker of a day!  Firstly, welcome to New member  Liz and thank you all for turning out.    I have to say, I was a bit  bowled over by the turnout. 14 of us met at Kirklinton Church.  We walked a short distance  along the road passed Stubb Farm before turning left and negotiating the first of many, many stiles.  A spectacular view of Kirklinton Hall and it’s gardens.  We followed Longcleughside Beck for a few yards before taking a snicket right to view “Captains Seat” and an ancient carving in the rock of a “Fairy”. Sadly, the weather over the centuries hasn’t been too kind to her!

We retraced out steps back to the path and then followed the River Lyne towards The Cliff Bridge, climbing many, many stiles, each one a challenge.  With Teamwork and much laughter we rose above adversity.

We then turned back along an almost parallel footpath to the Church.  Lunch was spent in the Church yard  basking in the sunshine and enjoying everything that Spring and friendship has to offer.

Thanks for your company everyone.  I very much enjoyed the day.

Judy
