It's always a good move to turn up even if the weather looks like being appalling. Very often it turns out fine and then you've missed a good walk. Nobody was daft enough to want to go up Haystacks as advertised, so the four of us who turned up, compromised with 7-8 miles round Brampton. The wind felt a bit like 75mph on the ridge from the castle out towards Lanercost but after that we were relatively sheltered in woodland. We ended up in Miltonrigg woods, via Naworth Castle, returning to Brampton on the Dandy line. The strong, gusty wind and fitful sunshine made the daffodils dance a la Wordswoth! And we saw some lambs!
The tea at Hayton Farm Shop was as good as ever.
