Lockerbie C walk 28/1/2025
Six of us walked from Lockerbie Train Station to the town hall to see the Lockerbie Air Disaster Memorial Window which is situated in the Small Hall. We also saw the town regalia and signed the visitor book before leaving for our walk.
It was about a mile on the road to reach the Eskrigg Nature Reserve, but we had been blessed with nice warm sunshine so it was no chore. The reserve has lots of information boards and donated trees dotted along the paths and streams. There was plenty of bird life to admire from the hides where we spent a pleasant half hour, before starting towards the forest trail. Unfortunately Storm Eowyn had brought down a lot of the native Scots pine and rendered the paths unusable. We retraced our steps back to the town centre and had a nice lunch in a local hostelry instead before taking the train back to Carlisle.
