Walk & Event Reports

.

10 of us out for this walk that turned out to be an eventful outing. The initial climb up Birks got everybody’s heart going but also gave us some great views back over Ullswater. After a quick cuppa we proceeded to Gavel Pike then onto St Sunday Crag all in reasonable sunshine. After dropping down off the summit we found a wind free spot to enjoy lunch. As we got up to carry on we were blitzed for about 20 minutes by a pretty severe blast of snow, the first this winter but probably not the last. As we headed down to Grisedale Tarn there was a splendid rainbow that was obviously there to trick us as not long after we had a prolonged downpour. It was then the long walk down Grisedale valley back to Patterdale. Some spells of bad weather today but I hope it didn’t spoil the winter experience that at time was pretty spectacular. A longish day that didn’t leave time for after walk tea and buns. Thanks to you all for coming out and thanks to Myna for bringing the cakes, you got the job.

See you on the next one, Pete.
