13 members made the journey to Eskdale keen to explore this beautiful area in improving conditions which, following the previous torrential rains, was a great bit of luck and the walk was done in sunshine with excellent clear views all round. Due to the heavy rains the boggy stretch between Harter Fell and Green Crag was up to full working spec so it was decided not to cross over - Green Crag therefore awaits us for another day. We managed to get the last parking slots at Jubilee Bridge and made our way firstly along the track that leads across the flank of Harter Fell before turning up towards the top of the Fell. Those that wanted climbed the rocky outcrops and then had lunch. Leaving the top we picked up a path leading towards Hardknott Pass but in order to avoid other boggy sections we deviated to follow sheep paths sticking to higher ground (who said sheep were stupid!) arriving at Horsehow Crags for another brief stop/photograph opportunity before dropping down to the road then over to the fort for a brew, back to the start and then off to enjoy refreshments in the Woolpack. All agreed it turned out to be a a great day out. Thanks to all who attended.
