Carlisle & District Rambling & Fellwalking Club

Walk & Event Reports

12 walkers on the B walk today with plenty of mud as promised.

Unfortunately the weather was not as reliable and with low clouds and occasional showers the tops of the fells were hidden so depriving us of any long distance views. Following a similar route to the a party we decided to slow our pace to let the A group catch us up at around the 4 mile mark and from then on the two groups combined for a sociable ramble stopping for lunch and shelter from the only really serious rainfall of the day inside the church of St Micheal (patron saint of underwear) in Isel.

From here the combined party ascended Watch hill and a small group veered off to the summit of this modest hill but again there were no views to be had. An early arrival in Cockermouth meant plenty of time to seek out refreshments and a prompt departure saw everyone back in Carlisle before 5 pm.

The first walks of what I’m sure will be great year of walking for the club thanks to everyone who came along.
