Blessed with perfect walking conditions despite the 'iffy' forecasts depending which one you listened to 7 members (and 3 dogs) enjoyed a full day on the high fells and made it back to the cars just as it started raining!! Starting up Low How and High Brow the views immediately opened out. Matterdale Commom wasn't that boggy and we reached Gt Dodd  in under 2 hours where we had a break. ambling over Watsons and Stybarrow Dodds lunch was had on the latter where we saw our first (and only) other walkers of the day. Next was Whitestones, then Hartside , the final Wainwright ticked off, and Birkett Fell, so named after Lord Birkett who fought off the local water authority of the day who wanted to turn Ullswater into a reservoir and a plaque on the cairn there commemorates his good deed. We then turned for home down via Dowthwaite Head. A visit to The Royal in Dockray ended a great day out. Thanks to all who came.
