A Walk - High Cup Nick

Report by Ian Rowley

The end of June and we’re already halfway through this seasons’ walk programme (next seasons’ planner will soon be circulated so watch this space) 14 walkers enjoyed the walk to High Cup Nick via the impressive viewpoint of Murton Pike There is a tradition for first time visitors to the Nick to be led blindfold up the edge before having the blindfold removed to reveal the vista of the almost perfectly u-shaped valley ringed by the rock scars of the Whin Sill, however the walk leader had left his blindfold at home on this occasion. This did not seem to detract from everyone’s enjoyment of a dry if somewhat cool and windy visit to the famous landmark. The descent along the Pennine Way to Dufton was completed in warmer conditions with the only rain of the day falling as we sat enjoying refreshments at the old Post Office tea room.

Thanks to everyone who joined the walk.
