Carlisle & District Rambling & Fellwalking Club

Walk & Event Reports

.

A small turnout for the coach today but both walks enjoyed good weather,

definitely an improvement on the recent run of Sundays

The highlight for both walks was the fine cliff top scenery of St Bees head with the Isle of Man standing out clearly. Seals were also spotted but sadly there  was little evidence of nesting seabirds that used to crowd the eroding sandstone ledges along the cliffs.
There was also the drama of a Coastguard and RNlI  call out to a casualty in Fleswick bay and we watched from a distance the air sea rescue helicopter lift the unfortunate person from the beach.
Both walk’s returned to St Bees for refreshments to round off a fine day.
