Black Crag and Tarn Hows
Leader: Ian Rowley
Report by Ian Rowley
Photos by Ian Rowley and Malcolm Iredale
This was the 10th coach walk this year and with the exception of the Langdales, they’ve all been dry days - quite remarkable given the poor summer. Plenty on the coach again making a welcome return to Coniston
The b walk enjoyed an interesting ramble with a couple improvised route finding exercises by the leader. No one seemed to mind this too much and we were rewarded by fine views from the one summit of the day, Black Crag.
An easier descent led us down to and around Tarn How’s with its newly resident herd of Belted Galloway cattle. After this we descended through woodland reaching the shore of Coniston water and some welcome late afternoon sun.
Thanks to everyone who came along
Ian
