Walk & Event Reports

Plenty of evidence of the impact of storm Arwen today. Several trees were down in the small dene below Aydon Castle but were easily passable but when we got onto the Hadrian's Wall path we found that the military road alongside was closed to traffic and it quickly became clear why.

Whole strands of mature trees had been blown over by the storm, some of which had blocked the road and also a long section of the path itself. Fortunately with no traffic to contend with we made our way along the road before rejoining the path on to St Oswald's church, a lovely spot with fine views northwards.
The remainder of the walk was without incident and we enjoyed some late afternoon sunshine on the descent into Hexham. A great walk in good company.
Thanks to everyone who came along.
