A day of brilliant, sunshine, perfect blue skies and fabulous views … well yes I’m lying haha I’m pleased to say the drizzly day did not deter the 12 club members who joined me today and their fabulous company, as always, made the day. We all headed up to the summit of Barrow where a short break was taken before heading on to Stile End and Outerside. It looked like the soggy sandwich break was going to rear its ugly head again but after a short descent, shelter was found and there was a brief gap in the showers. The weather continued to improve and at one point (check out the photos) the leader was concerned that one member of the party was going to try to replicate a scene he had seen earlier in the week on Illgill Head !!! It was with much relief that this act stopped with the removal only of waterproof trousers !!! Thanks to everyone who turned out on this damp day and proved it takes a more than that to dampen the spirits of Carlisle & district Rambling Club.
