Ullswater Walks

A tough but ultimately rewarding day today with 18 joining the B party. After a visit to the always impressive Aira force we set of along the path through Gkencoyne Park up to Brownhills 
A bit boggy under foot to say the least and in its upper reaches a steeper climb than I had remembered. Our efforts were rewarded with a fine lunch stop giving views along almost the entire length of Ullswater 
The section along the narrow “miners balcony”
also proved a little more challenging as the weather closed in and we met a gusty wind.
We made our way a little gingerly but eventually emerged into the eroded landscape of Greenside mine. We descended othrough the Junipers and down to the mine track just as the rain started to fall
