Five of us left the Sands on Sunday morning including Sandy a new lady who has just  moved up to the area on her first  walk with the club , I hope she enjoyed the outing and will be back for more walks , we were joined at the dog kennels at Threlkeld by Peter and Lauren where there was ample car parking

It was a beautiful sunny day with clear blue skies but quite  breezy , and forcasts of  strong wind gusts on the fell tops

We took the country path  parallel to the road and started the steady climb up the well trodden path to Scales tarn , conditions were quite hard for walking due to the very hot weather conditions and plenty fluid was consumed . It took two hours to reach Scales Tarn and there were a lot of walkers about , Judith  decided she was going to return via the path we had just come up as she hadn't been walking for a while and didn't fancy the climb to the  summit with the prevailing conditions . It was by now very gusty and great care was needed tackling Sharp Edge which proved very challenging , however everyone made it safely . The wind was even stronger on the top and we looked for some shelter to have lunch , it was decided it was too dangerous with the high wind to descend down Halls Fell and we returned via Brease Fell and down to Threlkeld village the wind decreasing as we got lower

Coffee and  cakes were taken at  Cocklakes farm shop, thanks for everyone who came along
