For the first time in quite a while the weather today was against us forcing an early abandonment of the planned walk.
The omens were not good on the drive to Kentmere with visibility on the road  from Shap down to a few yards.
Despite this 20 walkers made it safely to the start of the walk but after a couple of miles low cloud turned to rain and it was decided to return to the valley.
An alternative walk  up to and around Kentmere reservoir made the best of the day with a brief period of brighter skies as we stopped for lunch .
The clouds soon rolled in again and  the fell tops remained shrouded. Despite the weather a round walk of just under eleven miles.  Thanks to everyone who came along, we'll definitely be back!
