Carlisle & District Rambling & Fellwalking Club

Walk & Event Reports

Three of us, me, Dave and Martina plus the mascots, "Sam" and "Max", started off  from High Row, above Dockray on a lovely, sunny morning. I decided to go the other way round from the way I put on our website as , having done it last Friday, thought doing Clough Head 1st, had the better views. When Blencathra came into view, it was crystal clear and we hoped for great photos later on. We plodded on up to White Pike a rocky outcrop on the way up with it being quite warm. However, on reaching the plateau and trig point of CH, it had started to blow a bit. Alas, a haze over the excellent views of BC, Skiddaw, Grizedale, etc meant our hoped for crystal clear photos were not to be. We decided to descend  to midway between the two tops at Calfhow Pike for lunch sitting on top with a quieter wind and magnificent views. We then proceeded to the top of Great Dodd where we didn't linger and proceeded with the descent walking over Randerside, reaching the Old Coach Road and back to the car. As there were only 3 of us and the dogs, we decided to just go back to Carlisle. Even though there were few of us, I think we all enjoyed the day being excellent weather for late February. Thanks Dave, Martina, Sam and Max.
