13 people on the A walk today. A warm welcome to those who came out with the club for the first time. We parked at Mardale Head and walked up and over Gatesgarth pass meeting a group of walkers from Kendal near the top of the pass. They were the C group. They must have tough C walkers in Kendal! A steep climb followed until we reached the superb viewpoint of Tarn Crag. Although not the clearest of days it was possible (just) to make out Heysham power station (Lancashire) and Ingleborough (Yorkshire) as well as Black coumb(Cumbria Millom). We walked down and up to Grey Crag where lunch was taken. After that it was a short walk to Harrop Pike, then some up and a long down before starting the long grassy climb onto Branstree. All downhill from there back to the cars followed by refreshments at the Haweswater hotel.

Thanks to everyone for being such a great group.
