A very wet day with eight walkers, including newcomer Joyce, braving the elements. From Wath Bridge we made steady progress to the pretty Nannycatch valley to join Wainright’s Coast to Coast route. We had a couple of tricky beck crossings before climbing out of the valley and reaching the reconstructed stone circle at Kinniside where we also met with three Australian sounding coast to coasters. Lunch was taken in Ennerdale Bridge before we headed off to join the old railway line that linked Ennerdale to Whitehaven. The final three or four miles were accompanied by increasingly heavy rain and we were all pretty soggy by the time we got back to the cars.
Still a good day’s walking enjoyed by everyone (or so they said)
