Carlisle & District Rambling & Fellwalking Club

Walk & Event Reports

.

On arrival at the start of the walk, waterproofs were donned due to a bit of wet stuff falling from the sky, however before we reached Crummock Water a few minutes later, this had ceased and with the exception of a couple of light drizzly spells, we were lucky enough to experience an almost completely dry day. The views down the length of the lake did not disappoint with the autumn colours in abundance. It was fun crossing the bridges with the lake out take streams gushing beneath us, followed by, not walk the plank, but walk the wall, being the lake retaining wall, to avoid a boggy section. So much fun was had that this was repeated on the return journey !! We continued our route along the valley and ascended Melbreak where lunch was taken just below the summit. This was followed with some excellent views over Crummock Water & Buttermere and was interesting to pick out routes the club had previously taken on the opposite fells. We descended to Scale Force which certainly was in full force, before returning along the lake side to the cars. Thank you to the magnificent seven who joined me and made the day so complete. I hope you enjoyed it as much as me. Many thanks once again
