A fine day for a walk in an area not often visited by the club. Following the river Eden we left Kirkby Stephen via the pretty Franks Bridge and spent a little time admiring the falls at Stenkrith Bridge before heading for Wharton Hall
Route finding was a little tricky at times and an attempt to take a shorter route by crossing the Eden at a ford was quickly rejected We eventually made Pendragon Castle for a late lunch and were entertained by some nimble footed sheep scaling the ruined walls .
The return leg to Kirkby Stephen was a little shorter but again some little walked paths made the going slow and we made a halt for welcome liquid refreshments before following the road back to the waiting coach
Still an enjoyable walk thanks to everyone who came along
