Dry, sunny, good visibility and quite mild, a great day for walking. Twelve of us set off from the lay-by on the A6 and set off up the steep start for the summit of Ashstead Fell.  I can’t say a lot about this walk, even though I was the leader I was the last one to reach the summit and a short distance later I had to abandon the walk and make my way back to the lay-by. I was in considerable pain and couldn’t keep up with the rest. Many thanks to Frank for taking over and completing the walk.  Slowly and not very surely I made my way back to the car. Because it took me so long to get back I didn’t have too long to wait before the others returned. I’ve no idea what happened on the walk but they all seemed to have enjoyed it. We ended the day in the coffee shop and pub in Orton and on our return to Carlise a group of us went for dinner at Carrow House. A great day, I really enjoyed it, despite my injury. Thanks to everyone who came along.
