Cold Fell - Tarnmonath Fell

Eleven turning out from the Geltsdale Car Park. An early start so I added a bit on as we would have hit Cold Fell summit early for lunch. It being the only comfortable place for a long sit down for lunch I didn’t want to get there too early. We scooted around the nature reserve then headed up to Cold fell.  It became apparent that adding a bit on didn’t agree with some as they decided to take an impromptu lay down, in the mud, with a brand new jacket on. Nothing hurt fortunately and we hit the summit for lunch in a bit of clag. Having completed the up hill the challenge was then the bog across to Tarnmonath Fell. This having been negotiated without incident  it was down to lower and better paths. On the way back we spotted a couple of deer before getting back to the car. A phone call to the Hayton cafe to let them know we were on way meant tea and great cakes finished off the day. A longer walk than advertised and pretty tough with the conditions under foot , just beat the rain. Thanks very much to all supporting the walk on what wasn’t an easy day.
