Some welcome new faces along with regular club members made a group of 19 that set of from Threlkeld under low clouds. The group first paid a visit to the Blencathra Hound kennels then on up to the site of Gategill lead mine. Following a high contouring path with fine views over to the Newlands valley, we were led along by several Yellowhammers flitting from fence post to fence post ahead of the group. The low clouds gradually lifted and by the time we rounded the corner into the Glenderatera valley the sun began to shine and lunch was taken. The walk followed the high path beneath Lonscale fell with more fine views opening up ahead. Good time was made and a final short climb up to the top of Lattrig fell was rewarded by a superb panorama with a sunlit Derwentwater and the high central fells clear of clouds. A fine end to a fine walk, thanks to everyone who came along.
