What a lovely day we had today, twenty four of us set off from Pooley Bridge on a beautiful day, sunny, dry and quite warm. Within a few hundred yards the walk split with Bruce heading for the hills followed by eight others and me heading for the nice flat river bank followed by fourteen of the more sensible members of the party. We made our way along some lovely paths and across a few fields, heading for Barton church. As to be expected at this time of year there were quite a few muddy sections. We had a look round the lovely little church at Barton and had a little tea break before heading uphill to the fell overlooking Ullswater, we enjoyed some lovely views from the top before heading down towards Pooley Bridge. As we reached the bottom of the fell we met up again with the A party and we completed the final stretch together back to the cars. It was then off to the Queens Head in Tirrel for lunch. What a magnificent lunch it was and the service was quite superb, without doubt the best venue for xmas lunch I think we have ever had. Many thanks to Margaret and her staff, a great job well done and many thanks to everyone who came along for making it such a great day.
