A Walk

Bessyboot to Glaramara

I am pleased to say that despite all my discouragement 8 people decided to join me on my walk. After a short section of road walking from the bus stop at Stonethwaite we ascended fairly steeply up a path up Big Stanger  Beck, a interesting climb made even better when our wild life spotter Pete Rutland pointed out Red Squirrel.  After crossing the beck near the top we climbed up over slightly boggy ground to arrive at the top of Bessyboot. From here we were rewarded with fabulous views over Tarn At Leaves and all the surrounding hills.

After a few ups and downs and more boggy ground we arrived after a short easy scramble  onto the top of Rosthwaite Cam a great vantage point and recognized as the true top of Rosthwaite Fell.

More climbs up and down followed until we arrived at and ascended up through Coombe Door and onto Coombe Head where lunch was taken.

After lunch a short easy scramble and some easy ascent we were atop of Glaramara our highest point of the day. All that was  left was easy descent all the way down to Strands Bridge followed by a short road walk to the Glaramara Centre where various refreshments were enjoyed.

A super day out with good company and I just hope everyone enjoyed the day as much as i did. Many thanks to all who shared this day with me.
