Walk & Event Reports

A good turnout on the bus today for the Remembrance Sunday walks and also a much better day weather wise than recent Sundays.
With 22 walkers joining the A/B walk most of the party made their way to the summit of Castle Crag for a simple but affecting service of remembrance. A slightly smaller gathering than I have seen in recent years but making it a little easier to get up and down the slippery slate paths of the crag. It took a little longer than anticipated to get all the group re assembled and down to the river Derwent for lunch and it was quickly apparent that the planned walk would be difficult to complete in good time. It also felt like a more sociable option to simplify and shorten the route.
The route leader still found time to test the courage of the group in making a highly technical (and unnecessary) river crossing. Several more sensible walkers opted for the nearby bridge.
The atmosphere in the group did not alter and there was plenty of chat all the way back to the welcoming Glaramara Hotel . A shorter day than planned but an enjoyable one thanks to everyone who came along.
