The weather was OK, just light cloud, when 9 of us set off from Lowther Castle but soon turned to light showers as we progressed down the path towards the small hamlet of Whale. After crossing the river valley and passing Helton we made our way up to Askham Fell to have our lunch stop near Heughscar Hill. A long downward path took us through the pretty village of Askham and on back to the Castle Tearoom for refreshments. Thanks to everyone who turned out.
