First of all a big thank you to everyone who was brave enough to come with me on my first attempt at leading a walk. Seven of us set off and seven of us came back so that was a relief for me!  We set off from the car park at Ambleside onto an immediately steep climb for a short distance up Kirkstone Road.  Sweden Bridge Lane then lead us onto a steepish assent though shady woodland above Scandale Beck. Emerging into hot sunshine we took a stop for drinks at the lovely High Sweden pack horse bridge. Continuing on in the heat we made the assent to Low Pike with good views over Ambleside to Windermere and also of Rydal Water. Lunch was taken at the summit of Low Pike with the option of going on to High Pike. The decision was made for us with a heavy downpour at this point and everyone got a good soaking. We headed back towards Ambleside and before reaching Low Sweden Bridge were once again removing waterproofs (or not so waterproof) to enjoy the sunshine. Refreshments enjoyed at Apple pie eating house before heading home.

Thanks  again to a very supportive group.
