Carlisle & District Rambling & Fellwalking Club

Walk & Event Reports

.

Ten walkers for today’s B walk from Lanercost Bridge. Some muddy fields to cross at the start before we found the Hadrian’s  wall path up to Banks Turret. Plenty of time to admire the views as the weather stayed dry and as always time to admire the skills of the Roman wall  builders. We made our way down slippery paths into the Irthing gorge for a slightly  damp riverside lunch stop.

As we exited the gorge the promised rain arrived and we suffered a further setback as the foot bridge at Lanerton Bank was closed by  what looked like flood damage.
No one fancied a paddle so we made a return via the military road. All in all a great day
