C Walk

Aroon the Muckle Toon

6 Miles Grade 3/4

Leader: Anne Halliday

Report by Anne Halliday

On a mild Sunday morning, 9 ramblers and our local historian Billy Young set off from the Kilngreen.

From the start of the walk Billy kept us informed and entertained with his tales, often very gruesome, of local events and characters.
We headed up to Whita, reaching the Hugh McDiarmid memorial via the Birnie Braes, and had lunch there. It was lovely to sit there, warm in such attractive surroundings.
I must thank Billy for his wonderful tales, the Eskdale Hotel for providing such a good tea, and lastly, but not least the c group for my first fray into leading such a pleasant experience.

PS  Ken says some ramblers don't know what mud is - they just need to look at their boots.

Judith will confirm that the walk was not muddy(no bribery involved!).
