In spite of the wintry forecast six hardy members set off from Longlands and headed for Trusmadoor.  The fell tops were in low cloud and soon it began to snow but fortunately this didn’t last long.   The air was still and with no wind chill it felt unexpectedly warm.  After a short coffee stop the group tackled the steep slope of Burn Tod and then the rough, trackless approach to the summit of Knott.  Over this stretch the GPS was very useful until, miraculously, the cloud started to lift and the top could be seen.  Quickly the day got better and better and the descent over Great Scafell, Little Scafell (where lunch was taken), Lowthwaite Fell and Longlands Fell was enjoyed in sunshine and with extensive clear views.  Sometimes luck is on your side however bad the forecast is.
