Eleven of us set off on a damp morning but the day turned out to be really good, weather wise and quite wonderful in every other way. In my walk description I said we would be setting off from Wythorp Church. Apologies for my spelling mistake, it should be Wythop, pronounced Withop. The English language is funny at times, the way things are pronounced, I’m glad I’m Scottish. We made our way up to Lothwaite, visibility was great and we enjoyed some wonderful views. It was then on to Sale Fell and down past Dodd Crag to Brumston Bridge. At this point I decided to add a little bit extra to the walk by taking a seldom used path which would bring us out near the Corpse Road to Ling Fell and a lovely path it was. We had lunch at the start of the Corpse Road before making our way up to the trig point on Ling Fell. With all the hills climbed it was then the return leg to Wythop, pronounced Withop, passing the old chapel ruins on the way. We raced off to the Craggs Coffee House and arrived just before closing time and were rewarded by being served huge portions of lemon meringue pie. A wonderful day, great weather, great group, great crack. Thanks to everyone who came along.
