Only nineteen on the coach this morning. No doubt the fair-weather walkers decided to stay in bed but as it turned out the weather wasn’t too bad at all. I didn’t go on the coach myself, I was delayed by a problem with a washing machine, yes I do use one from time to time. I wouldn’t have made it to the Sands on time so I drove directly to the Blencathra Centre and waited for the B party to arrive. It did occur to me that the walk might have been changed and they might not come past at all but thankfully they turned up bang on schedule just after 10.00am. There was twelve of them coming up the path  and I made it thirteen, unlucky for some maybe but I like to think lucky for all of them. We made our way up the East side of the valley and we soon crossed the bridge and started along the other side. The path on this side was quite rocky and slippy in places and we had to be careful. We stopped at a nice little spot for lunch and then moved on to the car park a the back of Latrigg. We were in plenty of time so we decided to go up Latrigg, which turned out to be well worthwhile as we had some great views from the top. It had been quite misty most of the time but it vanished just we got to the top. We soon found ourselves back in Keswick and enjoying our refreshment in Bryson’s Café where we were joined shortly afterwards by the A party. The coach dropped me off in Threlkeld and I said goodbye before heading up to the Blencathra Centre to collect my car.  A lovely walk and a great bunch, plenty of topics discussed but none fit for publication. Many thanks to Roger for leading.
