Bad weather in March had prevented the completion of this fine walk which I would heartily recommend to any intrepid club members.
Starting from Glencoyne Bay four of us enjoyed a bright start to the day with blue skies and the sun glinting off Ullswater and the entire walk was completed in shirt sleeves (trousers were also worn)
Following the roadside path to the Aira Force car park we quickly ascended past the renowned falls and on up to Dockray before starting the steady climb following what was a miners path to the Greenside mines above Glenridding.
A lunch stop after 4 and a bit miles was taken with fine views over the lake, then on to the narrow but secure path that contours around Glencoyne Head. All four agreed that this was a fantastic route that ,with a little care , offered  great rewards.
Having reached the col between Stybarrow Dodd and Sheffield Pike we descended towards the interestingly named hamlet of Seldom Seen returning to the car park and completing a walk of 8 miles with around 2000 ft of ascent.  As a small group the time flew by and we were able to enjoy tea and cakes at the National Trust cafe at Aira Force.
